Who is the course aimed at?

Those commencing colposcopy and those wishing to maintain reaccreditation. Suitable for gynaecologists, pathologists, GU physicians and nurse practitioners.

BSCCP & CME approved (suitable for BSCCP colposcopy accreditation & reaccreditation).

What is covered in the course?

The course provides both theoretical and interactive (practical) training.

Day 1 - Basic: Anatomy, pathology, colposcopy of normal/abnormal cervix, methods of detection. Where & how to be trained. Practical interactive teaching sessions in small groups, with tutor examining cytology, colposcopy and pathology using video and digital media.

Day 2 - Basic/Advanced: Aetiology of CIN, treatment, role of viral testing, audit of quality standards & national minimal data set. Practical sessions as for day 1 with video masterclass.

Day 3 - Advanced: Management of treatment failures, new methods of treating early invasive cancer, management of VIN/VAIN, anxiety and the colposcopy patient, the nurse in the colposcopy clinic. Video masterclass with interactive case presentations.

How long is the course?

The basic/advanced course is a three day course - Course members are required to meet daily at 8.50am for registration and then lectures proceed from 9.00am and are concluded at 5.00pm.
