What is covered in the course?
DAY ONE
The Basics- Normal Cervix, Colposcopy- how accurate is it?
New Diagnostic Developments- Cytology New Developments (Including LBC and New Classification), Pathology- new ways of increasing accuracy; the role of tumour markers
Infections- Cervical Infections (excluding HIV) and their relevance to the colposcopy clinic,
The current place of HIV and immunosuppression in lower genital tract pathology; what should the colposcopist know?
DAY TWO
The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)- HPV- its current role in clinical practice, emotional aspects of HPV screening, HPV/Vaccines- what is their future?, How best to screen for cervical cancer in developing countries (VIA, HPV- cytology or real time methods), Debate- Do minor lesions need treatment?
Glandular Lesions and Guidelines- Glandular Lesions: are they important and how to manage them, New NHS Guidelines: are they practical and how are they implemented?
DAY THREE
Pre-Malignant and Malignant Cervical Lesions- New methods of treatment, Early Invasive Squamous and Adenocarcinoma and their management- How conservative?
Lower Genital Tract Pathology- Vulval Disease- What colposcopists should know, Multi-focal abnormalities of the lower genital tract, Difficult clinical cases- Panel discussion.
A text containing colposcopic, cytologic and pathology photos of cases discussed in the interactive sessions including colour images of all PowerPoint slides as part of lecturer’s presentations’ will be given to attendees.

How long is the course?
The International Advanced course is a three day course - Course members are required to meet daily at 8.50am for registration and then lectures proceed from 9.00am and are concluded at 5.00pm.
